Memorial Day 2008
The Annual Memorial Day ceremonies were held on
May 26, 2008. The day began with a short Service at Eureka Hose
Company with the placing of a wreath at the Monument. The
silent march across town followed to Eureka Engine Company.
Memorial flowers were
placed on the Main St. Monument by the Milltown Fire Department,
Milltown Exempt Firemen’s Association and the Milltown Ladies
Auxiliary.
Services continued with
the playing of TAPS and Amazing Grace on the bagpipes live. The
service concluded with the reading of the flower placements on
the monument by the families and friends of our departed
members.
Following the
services pictures were taken of the Department as it is the
second year of Chief Brian Bush’s term.
MFD Training
Continues
Two
of our newest members have been attending Firefighter I at the
Middlesex County Fire Academy. Firefighter Michael Perlson has
recently completed his basic training and firefighter Thomas
Dumanski will have completed his training before our next Exempt
meeting. They will both be part of the upcoming graduating
class at the Academy.
There were four member of the Milltown Fire
Department that have recently completed pump operations training
at the Middlesex Fire Academy as well over this past quarter.
As things change in Fire Service this training is essential and
their commitment is much appreciated.

Annual Charles
Garbarini Golf Outing
The Annual
Golf outing was met with a new condition this year. The sun was
bright in the sky but the temperatures were in the high 90’s.
The 121 golfers in attendance had the spirit intended and the
event persevered.
Attendees this year included Mrs. Andrea
Garbarini and members of her family, our brothers from FDNY to
the count of 20, our roommates from Iselin #11, a strong showing
of support from the Milltown Fire Department and several friends
and family. This year’s proceeds will be offered to COSAC of
New Jersey (The Autism Foundation) which will be presented to
them at their Annual golf outing on July 15th. The
proceeds became larger than anticipated when the winner of the
50 / 50, Rob Bye donated his money back to the cause in the
amount of $700.
The winners of this year’s event are
listed on the Golf Outing page of this site.
A
special thank you to our sponsors as without them this event
cannot happen. The Committee as without their efforts and
support things would not run as smoothly as it does every year.
We look forward to next year’s event and
information will be posted on the website.
